SAP Resource Augmentation
Every SAP project hits a point where the internal team needs more — a specialist skill for a defined period, surge capacity at go-live, a functional consultant to cover a module gap, an ABAP developer for a migration window. Resource augmentation from 2iSolutions places certified SAP consultants into your team — functional, technical, Basis and PMO — without the overhead of permanent hiring, the delay of agency search or the risk of consultants who have learned SAP in a classroom and never in production.
Full SAP coverage — every module, functional and technical
Resource augmentation works when the skill pool is deep enough to match what a project actually needs. Our 300+ consultant pool covers every SAP module, every technical domain and every specialisation — in production, not in theory.
Three ways to engage — matched to what you actually need
Resource augmentation is not one-size-fits-all. A go-live war room needs different capacity than a post-go-live AMS top-up. Our three engagement models cover the range from short surge to long-term dedicated placement.
The profiles available — functional, technical and specialist
Every consultant in our augmentation pool has live project experience — implementations, migrations or AMS engagements they have personally delivered, not training certifications alone. Industry context (manufacturing, pharma, FMCG, distribution) is matched at placement where possible.
Functional — Finance & Controlling
Functional — Supply Chain & Manufacturing
Technical — Development & Platform
Specialist — Governance, Testing & PMO
From requirement to consultant deployed — five steps
Resource augmentation needs to move fast. Our process is designed to deliver a shortlisted profile within 24–48 hours and a deployed consultant within 5–7 working days of requirement receipt.
Requirement
Skill, module, experience level, duration, on-site or remote, start date — documented in a brief 1-page requirement
Shortlist
2–3 matched profiles from pool — CVs, experience summary, relevant project history, availability — within 24–48 hours
Interview
Client interviews shortlisted consultant(s) — technical or functional assessment, cultural fit, communication check
Onboarding
NDA and agreements, system access setup, knowledge transfer with existing team — consultant ready to contribute from day one
Deployed
Consultant working within your team — periodic check-in with 2iSolutions engagement manager, replacement if needed without delay

- Client controls: extension, reduction, early release
- We handle: all consultant logistics — no client overhead
What makes our resource augmentation different
Production Experience — Not Just Certification
SAP certification confirms that a consultant has passed an exam; it does not confirm they have configured SAP Batch Management for a pharmaceutical manufacturer, resolved a month-end close issue at 11pm or migrated 2 million material documents under a downtime window. Every consultant in our augmentation pool has live project history — implementations, AMS engagements or migrations they have personally delivered. We match by experience, not just by module code on a CV.
Deep Pool — Fast Match Without Compromise
A small augmentation provider with 30 consultants either sends the closest match to what you asked for (not the right profile) or tells you they need 3 weeks to find someone. With 300+ consultants across functional, technical and specialist domains, we shortlist from a pool large enough to be selective — you interview candidates who actually match your requirement, not the best available from a thin bench.
SAP Gold Partner Quality Standard
Every consultant who augments through 2iSolutions operates under our SAP Gold Partner quality framework — the same training, certification and quality review that applies to our direct project delivery. This means the consultant placed with you has been assessed against the same standard as a 2iSolutions project consultant, not screened by a recruitment agency that cannot evaluate SAP technical depth.
Industry Context at Placement
A PP consultant who has delivered three pharmaceutical implementations configures batch management, shelf-life management and GxP-compliant processes faster and more accurately than one who has only worked in discrete manufacturing. We match industry experience at placement — a pharmaceutical client gets a consultant who has worked in pharmaceutical SAP landscapes, not the next available PP resource. The difference matters at go-live.
Flexibility Without Penalty
Project scope changes. Go-live dates move. Modules descope. The engagement model that made sense at requirement time needs to change. Our augmentation contracts are structured to accommodate this — extending an engagement, reducing hours, adding a second consultant or releasing early are handled without the punitive termination clauses that make agency placements operationally rigid. Augmentation should flex with the project.
One Point of Contact — No Agency Middle Layer
Agency augmentation typically involves a recruiter who placed the consultant but cannot evaluate their SAP work quality, cannot mediate a technical disagreement and cannot provide a replacement who is actually equivalent to the original. Our engagement managers are SAP practitioners — they can assess whether a consultant's technical output meets the requirement and can replace with a calibrated match if it does not. The quality of the consultant placed is accountable to someone who understands SAP.
300+ SAP consultants ready to augment — functional, technical and specialist profiles across every module
From a single ABAP developer for a 6-week migration window to a full functional team for a go-live surge — mobilised in days, not weeks, from a pool with 21 years of SAP delivery depth.
Resource augmentation: frequently asked questions
Common questions from project managers, IT directors and procurement teams evaluating SAP resource augmentation.
With resource augmentation, the client retains full management of the work — you direct the consultant's day-to-day tasks, set priorities and manage the work quality directly. 2iSolutions is responsible for providing the consultant, their HR and logistics, and quality assurance of the individual. With a managed service, 2iSolutions owns the outcome — we manage our team, define the approach and are accountable to SLAs. Augmentation suits clients who have internal SAP project management and need specific skills they don't have in-house. Managed services suit clients who want to hand over a service domain entirely. Many clients use both: a managed AMS service for day-to-day operations, with augmentation for additional project capacity during an upgrade or migration.
For standard module requirements (FI, MM, SD, PP, ABAP) we deliver a shortlist of 2–3 matched profiles within 24–48 hours of receiving a complete requirement brief. Specialist requirements (GRC, Data Migration, SUM Upgrade, specific Fiori or BTP skills) may take 48–72 hours depending on pool availability. The fastest path is a clear brief: module, experience level, S/4HANA vs ECC, industry context and duration. A vague requirement produces a slower and less accurate match, because we are searching across a large pool and specificity narrows the match quickly. For urgent go-live scenarios, flag the urgency explicitly — we prioritise mobilisation for production go-live support requests.
Always — client interview is a standard step before any placement. The typical interview covers the consultant's relevant project history (which SAP implementations or AMS engagements they have personally delivered in the required module), a functional or technical scenario question specific to the requirement, and a communication and working-style assessment. For technical roles, clients sometimes add a code review or configuration exercise — we accommodate this. A consultant should not start on your project without you having spoken to them and confirmed the fit. If the interview does not result in a match, we present the next profile from the shortlist without delay.
Raise it with the 2iSolutions engagement manager immediately — within the first 2 weeks if possible, before the issue compounds. We have a structured performance review process: the engagement manager assesses the specific concern, works with the consultant on immediate correction, and if improvement is not achieved within an agreed timeframe, replaces the consultant with a matched alternative. Our goal is that a replacement — if needed — is mobilised within 3–5 days of the decision, so your project timeline is minimally affected. We do not defend underperforming consultants; the accountability is on performance, not on avoiding replacement. Extended probation periods that hold projects hostage are not part of our model.
Yes — the majority of our augmentation placements are fully remote or hybrid. Remote augmentation works when: the client provides VPN-based SAP system access and standard collaboration tools (Teams or Google Meet); the consultant has a structured daily check-in with the client team lead; deliverables are defined clearly enough that remote completion can be verified; and the engagement manager at 2iSolutions is accessible if the client needs to discuss progress. For go-live support, production cutover and UAT coordination, on-site is strongly recommended even if the rest of the engagement is remote — the high-intensity phases benefit from physical co-location. We coordinate on-site travel logistics for consultants where required.
For dedicated (full-time) augmentation the minimum engagement is 4 weeks, with extensions in 4-week increments. For part-time augmentation the minimum is 6 weeks. For on-demand surge, we work by the day or week with no minimum beyond a 3-day booking. Extensions are the norm — most augmentation placements extend beyond the initial commitment as projects find the consultant valuable and scope expands. Extensions are confirmed at least 2 weeks before the end of the current term so the consultant can plan their schedule and the client has continuity confirmed. Early release (before the committed term end) is accommodated with 2 weeks notice — we do not hold clients to term if project scope changes make the role redundant.
