We have an excellent 6 month contract opportunity for Excel Specialist in Ottawa.

Work would be done remotely until the pandemic situation normalizes.

 

Must have:

  • Reliability level Federal Security clearance is mandatory
  • 4+ Experience with analysis and interpretation of complex data
  • Ability to write Macros, advanced formulas and whatever else is required to total cost of ownership model
  • The excel specialist needs to demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively, providing regular feedback and using initiative to ensure optimal results and in solving complex Excel challenges

Excel Specialist

 

The Next Generation Infrastructure project requires an Excel/Analytics Specialist to assist in providing support for building and maintaining complex total cost of ownership (TCO) and business case models.  The ideal candidate is skilled in Excel (pivot tables, creating forms with restrictions on cells, workbook linking, the use of visual basic macros, and preparing charts). Ideally, the candidate will also have some skills and interest in optimization techniques and familiarity with an analytics environment such as Anaconda and programming languages such as Java and Python.

 

 

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Build and maintain a total cost of ownership an understanding of the current Delivery Model and the agreed upon guidelines and to be used in developing a new cloud operating model
  • Work with the Cloud migration team to understand the requirements of the model and translate than into related Excel spreadsheets that are easy to maintain
  • Provide documentation on how to maintain and manage the total cost of ownership model.
  • Document and present findings to the NGI Leadership team in a clear and concise manner

 

CRITICAL SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES CHARACTERISTICS

Must have

  • Ability to write Macros, advanced formulas and whatever else is required to total cost of ownership model
  • 4+ Experience with analysis and interpretation of complex data
  • Manage priorities and time appropriately in a fast-paced environment
  • The excel specialist needs to:

o Demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively, providing regular feedback and using initiative to ensure optimal results

o Think outside the box when solving complex Excel challenges

o Instill confidence in their ability to perform, and meet agreed deadlines

  • Approach projects with a clear and methodical plan
  • Ability to balance multiple demands and work both independently and as part of a team to develop solutions

 

 

Nice to have

· Familiarity with an analytics environment such as Anaconda and programming languages including Java and Python
